Why hot tubs are hard to remove
A typical spa is too big for regular trash collection and too heavy to lift by hand. It usually has to be tipped on its side, moved on dollies and sometimes cut into sections to fit through a gate.
Doing it yourself means renting a truck, finding several helpers and paying disposal fees, and it is easy to damage a deck, fence or lawn along the way.
How to prepare before pickup
A little prep keeps the job fast and safe:
- Drain all the water a day or two before the pickup
- Have an electrician disconnect the power at the breaker and the spa
- Clear a path from the tub to the street, including gates and steps
- Leave the cover on or set it next to the tub so it can go at the same time

Can a hot tub be reused?
If the tub still works, listing it for free online can find someone willing to haul it away. If it no longer works or nobody comes, we take it apart, recycle the metal and components we can, and dispose of the rest responsibly.
